OUR EYES, EARS, AND DOORS ARE ALWAYS OPEN!

We realize that one of the most important aspects of any child's education is the connection between home and school.  When expectations are the same at home as they are in school, discipline problems go way down and academic success goes up!  With this in mind, we want you to know that we are always willing to meet and discuss concerns or issues regarding your 6th grader.  Our motto is that it is better to be proactive instead of reactive!  As we begin to prepare our students for middle and high school, we will try to work out problems within the school day one-on-one.  We want our students to be kids, so we understand that there will be moments where they forget to think before acting.  In these situations, we may not call home if the student realizes the mistake and improves the behavior. Unfortunately, some students are not ready for this personal responsibility, so we may need to call home to gain support or receive insight on dealing with the student.  If this happens it is only because we want the best for your 6th grader. Contrary to folklore, we do not hold grudges or penalize students over and over for something that happened days/weeks ago. EVERY DAY IS A NEW DAY in F pod!

Also, we would like to you to know that we have an open door policy regarding helpers and visitors.  All we ask is that you try to give us 24 hours notice prior to coming in to visit so we can make sure the students are not going to be working on a test or in an Encore class.  Each of us can be reached at the number below, as well as our individual email addresses. If you have an extremely urgent message to get to your 6th grader, please call the school office and they will make sure the message is passed along in a timely manner.  Sometimes with our schedule and teaching, we do not get to our phone messages before dismissal.  Email is always the quickest and fastest way to reach us during school hours.
